This is an example of typical plumbing of a pond: non-pressurized gravity return feed biofilter with an ultraviolet filter. Note the splitting of the suction line to allow for the operation of the skimmer. The discharge side of the plumbing system is also split to allow the proper flow rate/dwell time through the biofilter and achieve the desired waterfall flow.
This view illustrates the relative position of plumbing to the pond. Note that the majority of pipe of both suction and discharge lines is below pond water level. The reduces friction loss and enhances pump performance.
