The Pondarama Story
I always dreamed of having my own pond but thought it was too difficult and too expensive. And the way I went about it – it was! Five years ago I took the big step and hired a guy with a backhoe and began to dig. What a mistake that was. I guess you can say that I made every mistake possible. But then you can also say – I learned first hand what not to do. After failing miserably on the first, second and third try – I finally got it right. Dig a hole, throw in a liner, fill it with water, and turn on the pump ! Formerly a Special Education teacher with a degree in Psychology, I asked myself how hard can it really be? My first mistake was a lack of understanding that a pond is a living ecosystem with specific requirements. My second mistake was lack of pre- planning. Any open spot that looks level is not the perfect place to put the pond. My third mistake was believing marketing hype. And that‘s the short story. Take the time to pre-plan and get some good advice. Finally after reading everything I could get my hands on, searching every store for 150 miles and surfing as many website as there are grains of sand, I put my energies into building a business to help people do it better, easier, and with more help than could be found anywhere else. Thus Pond~A~Rama was born. Not all customer service serves us well. There was need for quality, value and choice but most of all there was a need for live customer service. Have you ever gotten lost in a website and tried to call for help getting a message that told you to go look on the website? Have you called customer service to get a machine but no help? Ever get a live person who talked down to you as if you were an idiot? In short I was tired of listening to answering machine options that did not have any option I needed. I was tired of customer service reps that did not have a clue or care less about my frustration. I was even less impressed with the experts who spoke in language only another expert could decipher. And I was fed up with websites that were built by computer nerds who were the only ones who knew how to use them. Over the course of 4 years working up to 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, I have learned a lot. Much of what I have learned comes from my customers who mirrored my foray into the wonderful world of ponding! I am here and willing to help. We have grown a lot and I haven’t much time to just chat but I will do my best to help you. I have gathered useful information and am compiling an archive so you can a wealth of information at your fingertips.
